2021/2022 Primary Leaving National Examinations KICK OFF

Kigali 18/07/2022: Today the Ministry of Education through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority launched a three-day exercise whereby 229,859 pupils from 3,556 primary schools nationwide will be sitting for their 2021/2022  Primary School Leaving National Examinations.

At national level, Minister of Education Dr. Valentine Uwamariya launched the exams at Groupe Scolaire (GS)  Nyagasambu in Rwamagana District, Eastern Province, whereas  Minister of State in Charge of ICT & TVET  Hon. Claudette Irere did the same at GS  Busanza in Kicukiro District in the City of Kigali, and  the Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education Hon. Gaspard Twagirayezu inaugurated these exams at GS Ntarama in Bugesera district in Eastern Province.

In her well- wishes address to the candidates, Minister of Education said:” We wish you success in these examinations, you are ready because you have been preparing for these examinations for six years, so don’t panic and avoid any form of malpractices. “

Minister Uwamariya also sent a message to the parents “We thank you for the support you always provide to these children in their education journey, and we are now requesting the full support in this special time of examinations most importantly by encouraging them to attend until the end of the examinations period. “

Also at GS Busanza and GS Ntarama  both Ministers of State Hon Irere and Hon Twagirayezu advised  candidates to work attentively , read carefully the paper before answering  and  avoid temptation to cheat in the examinations.

These PLE examinations are following national TVET practical examinations that started on 27/6/2022 and ended on 14/07/2022.

However, they precede the O-Level examinations expected to start on 26/07/2022 and end on 02/08/2022 in the first place and the A-Level and TVET theory examinations which will start on 26/07/2021 and end on 02/08/2022 in the second place.

A-Level Science practical examinations will start on 03/08/2022 and end on 05/08/2022.

127,469 registered candidates will sit for O-level and 46,735 ones will sit for A-Level in this year.

It is expected that 21,338 registered candidates from TVET schools and 2,906 candidates from Teachers' Training College (TTC) will also sit for national examinations in this year 2021/2022.

The examinable subjects in primary national examinations are Mathematics, Social, Religious studies, Science and Elementary Technology, Ikinyarwanda and English.

This year's PLE  candidates include 103,517 males and 126,342 females and are dispatched into 1,095 Examination Centres throughout the whole country. The PLE examinations which started today will end on 20/07/2022.
