30 pupils win the drawing competition on painting the values of the Commonwealth

Kigali 15 June 2022:  The Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education  Mr.Gaspard TWAGIRAYEZU presidede over the awarding Ceremony of winners of the drawing competition in primary schools on enhancing public awareness on the benefits of Rwanda to be a member of the Commonwealth under the theme: Painting the values of the Commonwealth.

These drawing competitions had  started on 10th May 2022 and brought together  1,298  Primary schools ( P1-P6 both public  and  private)  to enhance public awareness on the importance of being a member of the Commonwealth. They were done around various themes including  governance and rule of law, sustainable development, health, youth,  technology and innovation which reflect the commonwealth values.

While drawing, learners represented the commonwealth values through their own experience in Rwanda as an  indicator that the youngest citizens commonwealth understand the  achievements, the aspirations and  know their role in realizing the future.  

In his remarks, Hon. TWAGIRAYEZU said:  "This is the latest of a series of activities we started some time ago, to raise awareness around the Commonwealth among our students. Through this exercise, students had an opportunity to demonstrate their talent through painting commonwealth values."

The winners are 30 pupils from 30 districts were accompanied by their parents or guardiansand  they came with their arts works to be displayed and thereafter receive  their various awards .

This activity was jointly conducted by the Ministry of Education, Rwanda Basic Education Board, National Examination and School Inspection Authority, Provinces, City of Kigali, Districts and schools. Development partners and the Rwandan business community .
