Campaign to promote Rwandan Culture in schools launched countrywide


HUYE, Friday, 29th  June 2018  : The Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Culture and other government institutions launched a countrywide campaign to promote Rwandan culture and values from pre-primary to secondary schools. At  national level, the launching ceremony took place in Inyemeramihigo College , a secondary school located in Rubavu district , Western Province. At district level, the ceremonies took place in the following districts: Musanze, Gicumbi, Nyagatare, Rwamagana , Nyarugenga, Muhanga, Nyanza, Huye and Rusizi. The Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education Dr.Isaac Munyakazi officiated the launch of the campaign at Huye Stadium , in Huye district, Southern Province.   In his remarks , the Minister of State said "With this campaign we hope that students will be equipped with rwandan culture and values to shape them into good ciitizens. It would be lamentable if this component was missing from their education package". He later recommended  that students be involved in preparation of cultural shows and Umuganura festival  in their respective schools. The day was marked by cultural entertainments by local  primary and secondary schools. It was a great occasion for the schools to show how far they have gone in expressing rwandan culture in beautiful songs and dances. It is expected that the local authorities, directors of education, sector education officers will work hand in hand with the schools' leadership and parents to instil rwandan culture and values in all schools .
