Rwanda Polytechnic Graduated Over 2800 for its 6th Graduation

Kigali, 31 May 2023: This Thursday at BK Arena, Rwanda Polytechnics hosted its 6th Graduation Ceremony in which 2,885 graduates, from eight IPRCs across the country were awarded Advanced Diploma and Diploma certificates.

The event was graced by Minister of Education, MoS in charge of ICT and TVET Hon. Claudette Irere who is also the Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic, Minister of Youth and Minister of Public Service and Labour.

During the event, the best performers were awarded and the best performers by colleges are:

  • IPRC Musanze: MANIRAKOZE Jotham (Hospitality Management)
  • Karongi: NIYOMUGABO Sylvestre (Hospitality Management)
  • IPRC Kitabi SOUVENIR Regis (Forest Engineering and Wood Technology)
  • Gishari:NIYITANGA Seth (Irrigation & Drainage Technology).
  • IPRC Ngoma: UWIDUHAYE Christian(Culinary Arts)
  • IPRC Kigali: NIZEYIMANA Jean Pierre (Quantity Surveying)
  • IPRC Huye: MUSHIMIYIMANA Chantal (Crop Production)
  • IPRC Tumba: UWIMPUHWE Erneste (Electronics and Telecommunication Technology).

In her remarks, Dr. Valentine Uwamariya congratulated the graduates for their hard work and well-earned Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications and urged them to be ready to contribute to the country’s social-economic development.

Dr. Uwamariya said:" Dear graduates, you have all demonstrated a strong will, focus and discipline throughout your time at the Rwanda Polytechnic colleges, these have proved that you have what it takes to make it in whatever career paths you take after this graduation ceremony. Your skills are crucial to the implementation of the made in Rwanda policy, attract investment in different economic sectors, such as Energy, Manufacturing, Agro processing, etc., hence accelerate the national development."

Dr. Uwamariya also added that Rwandans expect much from them. The world of work can be challenging, they have to be prepared to embrace challenges and turn them into opportunities to impact the society.

Dr. Uwamariya said that Rwanda puts emphasis on TVET to develop human capital with knowledge and technical skills that are needed for national development. One of the NST-1 pillars of economic transformation requires the scaling up TVET graduates with skills relevant to the labor market.

"To promote home grown solutions, Rwanda wants an education system that is market-led to match the skills required by modern industries and services. I believe you have the potential to provide solutions to our industries &you can create jobs through entrepreneurship" She added.


Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) has eight constituent colleges designated as ''Integrated Polytechnic Regional Colleges'' (IPRCs) which are: IPRCGishari, IPRC Huye, IPRC Karongi, IPRC Kigali, IPRC Kitabi, IPRC Musanze, IPRC Ngoma, and IPRC Tumba.

The graduating students from those IPRCs are awarded Diploma and Advanced Diploma certificates in different fields namely Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Hospitality, Information andCommunication Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Wildlife Management, Tourism, ForestResources Management, Irrigation and Water Engineering, Forestry and Veterinary Technology.

Rwanda Polytechnic is a public higher learning institution that has a vision of offering high quality training that complieswith applicable standards of technical education and it aims at enabling its beneficiaries to acquire relevant skills for job creation as well as for successfully entering and competing in the labour market. Since its establishment in 2017, Rwanda Polytechnic enjoys an outstanding achievement of producing 12,184 graduates and its first graudation ceremony took place on on 28th June 2018 with 1,882 graduates.
