Kigali, 04 October 2021:  the Minister of Education Dr. Valentine UWAMARIYA together with the Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education Gaspard TWAGIRAYEZU and Minister of State in Charge of ICT & TVET Claudette IRERE published 2021 primary and ordinary level examinations results.

A total number of 251,906 candidates (136,830 girls and 115,076 boys) sat for national primary examinations  with the following performance per division

A total number of 121,626 candidates  (66,240 girls and 55,386 boys) sat for Ordinary level examinations with the following performance per division.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Education said “We are thankful that these children managed to do exams when we were in critical conditions coping with COVID19 nationwide and even worldwide.” .

She further added these results reflect combined efforts from various stakeholders: “We also take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who stood by these pupils and students, starting from parents, teachers and whoever was involved in the accomplishment of this great milestone “

.The ceremony was also characterized by awarding the top 20 best performers at Country level  including 10  best in primary examinations  and 10 best performers in ordinary level . All these 20 students were accompanied by their parents or guardians and each student received a laptop to  help them upgrade their ICT skills and knowledge

In primary , 3 best candidates are RUTAGANIRA Yanisse Ntwali from Kigali Parents School who emerged top in 2021 Primary leaving Examinations followed by TELIMBERE INEZA ALIA ANGE STEVINE from AHAZAZA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL and UWAYO RYAN GIGGS from Kigali Parents..

In  O’level,3  best performers at country level are  TUMUKUNDE FRANCOISE from ISF NYAMASHEKE , followed by UMUTONI ANGE DIANE  from Lycée Notre-Dame de Cîteaux and HIRWA BELIEVER GALL  from Ecole Des Sciences de Musanze.

Primary 6 National examinations started on 12/07/2021 and ended on 14/07/2021. 255,930 primary candidates from 3,134 schools were registered in 1,021 examinations centres. Five subjects were examined, namely: Mathematics, Kinyarwanda, Social Studies, English, Science and Elementary Technology.

Ordinary Level secondary National examinations started on 20/07/2021 and ended on 27/07/2021. 122,536 Ordinary level candidates from 1,468 schools were registered in 547 examinations centres. The examined subjects were nine, namely: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Kinyarwanda, English and Entrepreneurship
