MINEDUC RELEASES S6 EXAMINATIONS RESULTS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR 2021-2022
Kigali, 15 December 2022: the Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education Gaspard Twagirayezu together with the Minister of State in Charge of ICT & TVET Claudette Irere announced the 2021-2022 examinations results for S6 General Education, for TTC and for TVET/Level 5.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of State Gaspard Twagirayezu said “We want to congratulate students, parents and teachers for this achievement, the journey was not easy but our dear students managed to perform well.”
He further added that all this would not have possible without the involvement of teachers and parents who tirelessly did their part to support the students
This year’s performance:
A total number of candidates in general education is 47,606 ; while in TVET/ L5, candidates are 21,340 ;and TTCs candidates are 2,907.
Laptop awards
The publication was also characterized by awarding the top 16 best candidates in General education, TVET and TTCs level countrywide. . All these 16 students were accompanied by their parents or guardians and each student was awarded a laptop to help them upgrade their ICT skills and knowledge.

In her closing remarks, Hon Claudette Irere said “ We thank each and everyone who worked towards the success of this event, we are working hard so that in the future publication of national exams results doesn’t take long”.

Grading system revised:
According to Dr. Bahati Bernard the Director General of NESA a revised grading system was used.
“Except for TVET and TTC practical examinations as well as subsidiary subjects, examinable subjects are graded on a seven (7) grade point scale with six (6) as the highest (excellent) and zero (0) as the lowest (fail). “
“TVET and TTC Practical Examinations and Subsidiary subjects are graded on a two-point scale with six(6) and Zero (0) as well as with one (1) and Zero (0) respectively. “
“The maximum weighted aggregate achieved by a candidate who has excelled in all examinable subjects is sixty (60) while the minimum weighted aggregate achieved by a successful candidate is nine (9).”
“For TVET and TTC, passing a practical examination at a grade level of ‘A’ is a “PASS” condition”
How to view examinations results for successful candidates
- Individual candidates’ examination results can be accessed both through NESA website and the use of short text message (SMS).
- Through NESA website by clicking on this link: sdms.gov.rw/sas-ui/public/nationalExaminationResult.zul and follow instructions.
- For SMS: Write the full candidate’s index number, ID number and send to 8888.
Example: A-Level compose SMS containing: 110803MPC0012022, 12000700023033 and send to 8888.
