Minister of Education inaugurates the new building facilities at IPRC Ngoma
Ngoma, Sunday November 29, 2020: The Minister of Education Dr. Valentine Uwamariya presided over the inauguration ceremony of the new building facilities at IPRC Ngoma. These facilities are Administration block, girl’s Dormitory and Electrical and Plumbing workshops.
In her speech, the Minister of Education Dr. Valentine Uwamariya thanked IPRC Ngoma and other IPRCs for their contribution in promoting TVET in Rwanda. She added that the Government of Rwanda will continue to support TVET as a way of promoting hands on skills and Made in Rwanda products.
The Minister of Education further appreciated the contribution of Reserve Force in construction of schools particularly for carrying out construction works and successfully completed IPRC Ngoma new building construction works, noting that the facilities will help IPRC Ngoma to increase the numbers of students in TVET.
The Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic Dr. James Gashumba thanked IPRC Ngoma for what have been achieved and said that the target of absorbing 60% in TVET needs to increase the number of facilities including workshops, dormitories… as well as training of trainers of each level. He requested private sectors to work together with TVET schools as a way of increasing the Rwanda’s economy.
The newly launched administration block has 36 offices, one main boardroom and one small meeting, a ramp of people living with disabilities and the structural design allows future addition of two floors and the two workshops (Electricity and plumbing) have a theory classroom, a storage room and a trainer’s office. It also contains the main store with offices for storekeeper and logistic officer and latrines for students and staff.
The girl’s dormitory has the capacity to accommodate 180 students and already furnished with beds and mattresses, two laundry area, enough washing rooms and toilets and a residence of matron and her office incorporated into the building.
The total amount of money paid on the whole project is equivalent to Rwf 1,399,784,882.
