Press Release : MINEDUC TO CONDUCT PHASE 1 OF THE QUALITY EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN THE FY 2019/2020, FROM 23RD SEPTEMBER TO 04TH OCTOBER 2019
The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) through its agencies has the mandate to transform Rwandan citizens into skilled human capital for the socio - economic transformation of the country by ensuring equitable access to quality education, focusing on combating illiteracy, promotion of science and technology, critical thinking and positive values
A lot has been achieved in the Education sector. However, there is need to set more strategies to improve and maintain expected quality of education. It is in this regard, that MINEDUC and its agencies have planned a continuous quarterly quality education enhancement awareness campaign in all Districts across the Country.
The MINEDUC planned Phase I of the continuous Quality Education Enhancement Awareness Campaign in the fiscal year 2019-2020 is scheduled from 23rd September to 04th October 2019 under the theme: "Strengthening stakeholders engagement in educational transformation to maximize teaching and Learning outcomes” targeting 900 schools (general education and TVET schools and Higher Learning Institutions) in all 30 Districts.
The objective of this campaign is to reinforce stakeholders engagement in educational transformation to maximize teaching and Learning outcomes focusing on the greater roles of Parents/ School General Assembly (SGA) Committees, the greater monitoring by Religious experts/staff and Organizations, improved roles by Head teachers, teachers and all staff, improved Monitoring & Evaluation by Education Officers at the District level, holding accountable non- performing headteachers, teachers, SEO/I etc.
The campaign activities will be based on a combination of school visits, in-class inspection and outreach sensitization activities, and thereafter feedback will be given at the during a debriefing meeting scheduled at the end of phase 1 of the campaign in FY 2019/2020.
The previous five phases of Campaign bore fruits to address many issues that impede access to quality education. This was a result of collaborative effort of various stakeholders namely parents, local leaders, security organs, development partners as well as central government. There was a significant improvement in management of ICT Materials, Improvement in school feeding and hygiene, improvements in school administration, improvement in reducing dropout and repetitions, 89 best innovations & best practices were observed, competitively selected and awarded by the Ministry of Education.
