Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente laid a foundation stone for the construction of 12 new classes at GS Rukomo


Nyagatare, 29th September 2018:  The Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente joined Nyagatare residents in Rukomo Sector, in the monthly Community Service, Umuganda, where he levelled a plot and laid a foundation stone for the construction of 12 new classrooms to be built at an extension-site of “Groupe Scolaire in Gasenyi cell.  The Prime Minister Dr. Ngirente called up on parents and teachers for a strong collaboration to stop child drug abuse, school dropout and embark on enhancing teaching conditions so as to provide quality education to the students.

 The Premier emphasised that, with the available resources, the Government of Rwanda strives to increase classrooms to allow a better environment for pupils at school and end the issue of over-crowding of pupils in a classroom.

After the Umuganda, the Prime Minister visited University of Rwanda - Nyagatare Campus to witness the status of its infrastructure development.  Later on he held a briefing meeting with the Minister of Education, Local Leaders and the coordinator of the Nyagatare Campus, agreed on the way forward in order to urgently resolve some of the key issues that were found while touring the campus.

The end of September Umuganda coincided with the launch of the National Unity and Reconciliation month in all Districts. 

The Premier urged all Rwandans to fully and actively participate in all activities that will be organised in this month as unity and reconciliation are foundation of our sustainable development. He also commended Rwandans to always strive for unity in their respective families: “Let’s strive for unity and reconciliation in our families. The real unity starts within them”, he said.
