Rwanda Polytechnic held its first Graduation Ceremony
KIGALI, Thursday 28th June 2018: A total number of 1882 (1516 males and 366 males) students from eight colleges who successfully fulfilled the academic requirements in 206/2017 academic year, graduated at Rwanda Polytechnic (RP).
Students graduated in departments of Civil Engineering; Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Information and Communication Technology; Mechanical Engineering; Hospitality Management; Agriculture Engineering and Veterinary; Forest Resource Management; Wildlife Management; Wildlife Tourism; Alternative Energy and Mining Engineering.
In his remarks, the Minister of Education Dr. Eugene Mutimura congratulated the graduates for this important milestone. ‘’It is indeed a very important milestone in your lives, one that ushers you out into the workplace, to start your life of service to your communities and, to your nation. ’That is what your training was all about; it was to prepare you for service’’.
‘’As innovators and entrepreneurs, you have to think out of the box, create new jobs exploit BDF and other initiatives of the Government of Rwanda to support you in this regard’’. Minister emphasised.
The Minister of Education further noted informed graduands that the government and people of Rwanda have very high expectations of the new institution, Rwanda Polytechnic, to deliver on her mandate. Rwanda’s rapid developments demand a highly skilled labor force with hands-on skills in all the sectors of the economy. ‘’One of the identified development pillars to implement the vision 2020 programs is to make Rwanda a knowledge Based-Economy through human resource development strategies’’. He reminded.
The Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic Dr. James GASHUMBA urged graduates to be good servants during their time in service for the public.
