The 13th Policy Dialogue Forum of the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 kicks off in Kigali

Kigali, 02/12/2021: The Minister of Education Dr. Valentine UWAMARIYA opened 13th Policy Dialogue Forum of the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 (TTF) scheduled to take place in Kigali from 2–3 December 2021 both physically and virtually, under the theme ‘Innovation in teacher policy and practice for educational recovery.’

The forum brought together education stakeholders from around the world to consider ways to support innovation in teaching and learning; in initial and in-service teacher education; and in policy-making and orienting policy to enable and sustain innovation.

In her opening remarks, the Minister of Education said:The 13th Policy Dialogue Forum is a unique opportunity for considering the questions that are repeatedly asked about teachers and their profession.

She added that School leadership should not be left behind while discussing about the role of teachers.~There is a need to also examine the role of school leaders to enhance the quality of the teaching  and  learning process as it is key to leverage quality of education for better learning  and  resilient education systems~

The  TTF was also attended by the Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. Gaspard TWAGIRAYEZU who presented Rwanda's state of innovation in teaching and learning during Covid-19 lockdowns and  after . He emphasized the role of teachers in the development of lessons that were delivered to learners via electronic and online platforms during that time.

The International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 also known as the Teacher Task Force (TTF), is a unique partnership created in 2008 to advocate for teachers and the teaching profession around the world. It is dedicated to raising awareness, expanding knowledge, and supporting countries towards achieving target 4.c of SDG 4.

The TTF has over 90 government members and some 50 international and regional organisations (including UN organisations, civil society organisations, the teaching profession, and foundations) working together to ensure there is a qualified, motivated, and empowered teacher in every classroom. Its Secretariat is hosted by UNESCO at its headquarters in Paris.
