The Minister of State encourages teachers of Gisagara District to improve the preparation of pedagogical documents

L: One of graduates at the graduation ceremony;

Thursday 7th January 2019: The Minister of State Dr Isaac Munyakazi visited different schools of Gisagara District under the ongoing Quality Education Awareness Campaign phase VI.

One of the noticed issues that are hindering the quality of education delivery is the case of teachers who teach without proper preparations, and the Head Teachers and Director of Studies who do not make a close follow up of teaching and learning in Schools. Dr Isaac Munyakazi reminded the Head Teachers of Gisagara District Schools that the core mandate of the school is facilitating the Teaching and Learning. He requested the Director of Studies that pedagogical inspections must be done on a regular basis.

Some of the other issues that were observed as obstacles to quality Education are pupils’ high rate of absenteeism and dropout, limited engagement of parents in schools life, lack of pedagogical inspections of Head Teachers and DoS, limited involvement of Sector and District Education Officers in the management of Schools and Teaching and Learning.

During this ongoing Quality Education Awareness Campaign, 34 schools will be visited in Gisagara district. Among other issues this campaign focuses on the learners and teachers’ engagement in class to enhance teaching and learning process.

End.
